As promised, I am going to share what God has taught me about spiritual warfare through His word and through experience and visions and dreams. Im going to start with the basics, the spiritual armor of God. I will make a video to go with this soon and link it here when its ready.
Spiritual Warfare part 1: the Armor of God
“10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints–” (Ephesians 6:10-18)
Belt of truth: The belt of truth keeps your pants girded up, so you’re ready to fight. Truth is the foundation of your spiritual armor, and that’s why it’s listed first. The belt goes around our tummy where our emotions are held, and truth protects our emotions. When you know Gods truth, there is peace and there is nothing to fear or worry about. You can use truth to fight the lies that the enemy attacks us with. He attacks us with: accusations, confusion, shame, guilt, worry, fear, anxiety, depression, stress etc. These are all lies that go against Gods truth, and are to bring you down and stop you from knowing who you are in Christ, and doing Gods work. You can fight these lies with truth, and particularly Gods truth in scripture. His word is alive, has power and does not come back void. (See God loves you video.) Our belt of truth holds our sword (the word of God). Gods word is rooted in truth.
Breastplate of righteousness: Righteousness means doing the right thing and being obedient to God. This protects your heart. The breastplate is over your heart. When you do the wrong thing, sin, this leaves your heart vulnerable to attack. We are all going to do the wrong thing sometimes, so we need to always repent and receive Gods forgiveness, so that our breastplate stays strong, so that Jesus covers our sin, like the breastplate covers our heart. Our heart represents what we love.
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. – John 14.15
with the heart one believes unto righteousness – Romans 10.10
Feet shod with preparation of gospel of peace: The gospel has peace, because it is Gods message of salvation and by hearing it we can be saved and know and experience Gods love and peace, and we can share this good news with others. You can stand firm with peace in you, the gospel, and the enemy cannot push you over. You’re ready to go places, travel and tell the gospel. Knowing Gods word, reading bible with Holy Spirit to understand it, so you know and are familiar with Gods truths, ready to share with others. Sharing Gods truth is important in spiritual warfare because you are finding and equipping more soldiers for God. God showed me a vision about this. I saw my feet, standing on the ground, and plants with flowers were growing around my feet. God reminded me of this scripture:
11 Now whatever city or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there till you go out. 12 And when you go into a household, greet it. 13 If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 14 And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet. – Matthew 10.
The places where we take the gospel of peace, needs to be a place of peace, with fertile ground, where we can plant the seeds of Gods truth in peoples hearts. In places where its not growing, we can shake the dust off and move on.
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” – Romans 10.15
See also Luke 8.4-15 (parable of the sower).
Shield of Faith: The shield protects against Satan’s fiery darts. (Anything that satan throws at you, an attack). The shield is trust, belief, in Gods protection, His provision, His truth and the power of the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. – Hebrews 11.1
Notice that word “substance”. If you could see faith in the spirit, you would see that it’s a real tangible thing, and it actually surrounds you and protects you in the spirit, just like a shield. I’ve seen it, faith is very powerful.
…if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. – Matthew 17.20
with God all things are possible. – Matthew 19.26
God can do anything, and we can put 100% faith in His truth, His promises in His word. He promises to protect us and He will.
“The Lord is my strength and my shield …” (Psalm 28:7)
“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.” (Psalm 18:2)
You can build your faith by hearing and accepting/receiving Gods truth.
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. – Romans 10.17.
Helmet of salvation: The helmet of salvation protects your mind/soul. Knowing that you are saved gives you peace and confidence, in your mind. It protects you from fear. There is nothing to fear if you’re saved.
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. – Matthew 10.28
Satan will try and attack you and make you doubt your salvation. He will try and make you feel condemned and hopeless. But if you put faith in Jesus and accept His forgiveness, you are saved. And one way you can know this for sure that you are saved is by reading this scripture:
No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; – John 6:44
So if you love Jesus and desire to be closer to Him, and are seeking Him, that means that Father God is drawing you, and He doesn’t do that if you are condemned. He draws you through Holy Spirit. A lot of people struggle with fear that they have committed the unforgivable sin, which is sinning against Holy Spirit. If you sin against the Spirit, which is rejecting Holy spirit, then Holy Spirit will leave you. Holy spirit goes hand in hand with recieving Gods forgiveness, if you reject Holy Spirit, you are rejecting His forgiveness. You cant receive something that you are rejecting. If you still feel drawn to God, then you still have Holy spirit in you. Satan will try make you feel like youre not good enough too, but the truth us, noone is good enough. That’s why we need Jesus. God loves us even though we are sinners.
“God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5.8
Sword of the spirit: The sword of the spirit is the word of God. An easy way to remember this is the fact that the word sword has “word” in it: S-word. The word of God is the bible and everything that God speaks, and it’s also Jesus. Jesus is the word of God. The sword is a weapon. You can attack the enemy with your sword: Gods word. Jesus fought satan in the desert by quoting scripture at him. It is alive and is powerful. When you speak it, it does not come back void, but fights for you. It is Jesus, He is the word.
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. – Hebrews 4.12
I have seen my sword of the spirit in a vision. It is a beautiful sword with a blue gem on it and has blue flames around it. In the spirit, every piece of our armor is real. I asked God for more revelation about the sword, as I was typing this up, and I saw Jesus as the lion of Judah, ready to attack. He is the sword and He attacks the enemy on our behalf when we put faith in Him. Jesus has a sword that goes out of His mouth:
Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. – Revelation 19.15
“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)
Thank you for reading, I hope this encourages and blesses you all. I will follow up with more about spiritual warfare as soon as I can. God bless!
