I saw a “foothold”

18 April 2015

I was doing my nightly prayer of protection over my family and home and this time I actually prayed over the laptop screen next to our bed too. Later that night I woke up and saw a large footprint on the screen, like a mans boot print. There was a flurry of spirits around me, black orbs (demons) and angels were fighting them off with swords. It was intense warfare. I prayed for peace and protection and then felt peace and went back to sleep.
The next day I was wondering what the bootprint meant and Holy Spirit gave me a word: “foothold”.
The bible mentions the word foothold in Eph 4:27: “and do not give the devil a foothold.”
Giving the devil a foothold is like giving him a way in or an opportunity to attack. We do this through things like unforgiveness, unrepentant sin etc. I knew it could have been because we were downloading pirated movies. Later that day a post came up on my facebook saying that we shouldnt download movies because it is stealing! I repented straight away and never did that again.
Ive also heard since then that computers/phones etc can be open portals for demons. Its very easy for evil things, to come through the internet like ads that pop up without warning. When I anoint my home now I’m always sure to anoint and pray over our computers/phones/ipads as well.

Since this vision, I have had a couple of dreams of demons coming through screens and I’ve seen them in the tv screen. This really happens.

Treasures in Heaven

2015 Jan
I was feeling a bit worthless as a stay at home mother and I prayed for help with this because I struggle with raising my 4 children, I don’t have time for paid work. That night I woke up and had a vision. I was surrounded by angels and treasure! There was gold and diamonds flowing around me like waterfalls. It was the most beautiful thing I ever saw – beyond words! Holy Spirit reminded me the value of building up treasures in heaven and keeping my mind on the things unseen.

Matthew 6:19-21 (NKJV)
Lay Up Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

2 Corinthians 4:18 (NKJV)
18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Edit: I have a few experiences including this one where I didn’t feel valued as a mother but God values mothers so much. society values money and success, but God values how much you care about others. ♡

Epic Vision/ Experience!

August 2014

It has been confirmed to me through Holy Spirit, something that I take very seriously, but as with everything you need to confirm it with Him for yourself. It is long but worthwhile as many lessons were shown to me.
The background of this vision is important. I was very sick with non stop coughing and a burning fever. I was 3 days away from moving house and really panicking because I was too sick to do any packing. (I have 4 children to care for who were sick too and no support on top of that). I was in pain from coughing constantly and my high fever was causing me to go in and out of consciousness. I started to feel depression/heaviness/hopelessness. I was actually starting to think I had died and gone to hell and feeling suicidal and doubted if God loved me. I know for a fact this flu was not a natural flu, it was a demonic attack. (That’s another story how I know that). I didn’t give up though and started reading a book I had by Peter Tan about health. It’s very good, it showed me 4 very good points to getting well and being well:

1 take care of our soul (mind) by staying in a state of joy, gratitude and love / Rebuking fears and reading the bible.(Plenty of scripture on this one).
2 take care of our spirit through meditating on God’s word and reading it out loud/prayer and worship. These are like food for your spirit and makes it grow stronger.
3 take care of our physical body. Eat well/exercise/rest etc.
4 remember that we have been given power over satan/demons and His grace IS sufficient for this. We just need to have faith.

I read all the scriptures about healing and praised God and thanked Him for everything He has given me. It is very hard to do when you feel hopeless but do it anyway and keep rebuking fearful thoughts. Reject the devil’s lies and believe in God’s truth and you will get better. For example when the thought of “God not loving me” came up I would rebuke it and say God has proven for all time that He loves me because He died for me and that is the truth written in His word!

After doing this for hours the despair gradually left me but I was still sick and going in and out of consciousness and went into a vision. It was very vivid and real and this is going to be hard to describe in words but I’ll do my best. It was like I was viewing my reality from the spiritual perspective, behind the veil.
This may sound strange, but I saw my thoughts. They had actual spiritual substance. Thoughts of fear were dark and heavy and thoughts of love were light and glowing. They had influence on my life. They surrounded me kind of like an aura of energy around me. When I spoke those thoughts out loud with faith, they were MUCH stronger.

This scripture comes to my mind: “Faith is the substance of things hoped for”. See that word: “substance“. I know this sounds like new age but it is true. The thing is new agers try use this knowledge to “manifest” things they want like wealth and create the life that they want. That’s wrong. For one we can’t create anything outside of God’s will and two: we are not to be selfishly thinking about what we want but we should doing God’s will. So what I gain from this part of the vision is that our thoughts/words do matter and we need to be mindful of that and keep our thoughts/words on the right things. See Phil 4:8

Next part of vision:
I saw a timeline of my life and I zoomed in on the next 3 days. I saw us moving to our new house without any problems and saw myself there at the house thinking happily about how everything worked out. (Zooming back out) I saw on this timeline there were future events that were solid and events between them that weren’t solid. What I mean is I saw things that are going to happen no matter what but a lot of the future in between is open to possibilities.

It looked kind of like a 3d filmstrip with movies playing on each section. The different sections had key events. I could zoom out and see the main life changing events or zoom in and see every second. And it seemed to be growing like a tree at the same time and patterns everywhere. It was so complex and beautiful and so hard to describe. I can see it now when i think about it. The way we experience time isn’t actually how it is. It all seems to be happening at once. Past present future. Maybe this is what we see when we are dying and our life flashes before our eyes.

I saw many, many busy angels quickly flitting all over and in and out of my timeline gently influencing events to help me keep on track. These events were like many puzzle pieces joined together and every time I made a decision, the angels would rearrange the pieces in the timeline to keep me on track. They can do little things that we don’t notice but it creates a chain of events that directs us. For example: making us lose our car keys, which then makes us late, which then causes us to bump into a person that we were supposed to meet… Or they give us a message through a street sign we drive past or someone sharing a story with us and it causes us to rethink something in our life and make a different choice…etc
What I gathered from this is while we have free will, we have a purpose from God too at the same time and when we stray from our purpose He sends His angels to give us a nudge in the right direction. See Romans 8:28
Another way to look at it is we are on a path and it’s going where the Lord wills. We can meander all over the path and sometimes bump into the sides which is when we get hurt. We have free will within the boundary of the path.
I saw that everything is going to be OK for me and it gave me so much comfort! Things did work out with the move. I got better very quickly and packed up the house over next 2 days and everything worked out perfectly!

In this vision what amazed me the most was how I felt no fear whatsoever. Not one tiny inkling. It was such peace that I never felt before. As I was coming out of this vision my faith was strong and I looked at my son who was next to me. He was trying to sleep but couldn’t stop coughing. I said with certain faith “stop coughing and go to sleep”. As I said it, I saw/felt the substance of those words go from my mouth to my son and immediately he stopped coughing and fell asleep. My older 2 children then came in the room. They were in the middle of fighting and coming to complain to me about whoever started it. I just said “peace” and I felt peace go over them. They stopped fighting immediately and they forgot they were fighting and started talking nicely to each other and went off to play together. It was very rare for those two to play together!

Faith is so important and powerful!

Scripture on the power of our words :

James 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing…
Proverbs 18:21
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,…

You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
Psalm 139:16 NLT

My son and I, shared vision/dream.

My son and I had this shared vision/dream:
June 2014

Please note, before this happened, I was seriously considering moving from Australia back to my home country of New Zealand.

I woke up at night and had a vision. I saw cards with hearts cut out floating down over my son who was sleeping. I never told my son about this. A week later my son, (he was 11 yrs old at the time), he woke up and he was calling me. He looked like he had seen a ghost. He said “mum I had a dream but it was real”. He was shaken and he was weeping as he told me his dream…
In his dream he was standing on a mountain. There was a earthquake and thunder. He looked up and saw the clouds, they parted to make a heart shape hole in the clouds. Through the hole he saw australia. Then lots of cards with hearts cut out floated down over him. Someone stood next to him and whispered “Jesus is coming”.
***end of dream***

I believe God was telling us to stay in Australia and that He is coming soon.

Edit: 25 sep 2016

I had been praying for my other children to recieve dreams too for a long time. I asked God why He had given my son this amazing dream and not my other children. He said to me “because he is your firstborn”.

Firstborns in the bible, have an important role of responsibility. They get double inheritance and recieve their fathers blessing. They become the head of the family after the father dies.

I spoke to my son about this, about how important it is that he look after his younger siblings and he really understands. He is very protective of them. So proud of him!

Jesus is Love, Jesus my Hero

When you hear about heroes fighting epic battles: the more they overcome, the more glorious their victory, and the more they are honored and worthy.

I’ll tell you a story about my Hero.

Once upon a time, God created all things, through Love and for Love. Pride challenged Love. The devil challenged love with his foolish pride. Love has been tested for thousands of years by the devil, through powerful evil schemes beyond our imagining. But the light of love shines through this darkness and the darkness knows it not.
Gods places His true love as little seeds in the darkest of places where they are stomped on over and over by the devil. His Love faithfully shines through all that abuse and trauma and it grows. Through lifetimes of trials and hardships, it overcomes. Love bears all things. Love believes all things with unmovable faith. Love never gives up. Love hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

Love is the way, the truth and the life.

Satan cannot stop it.
Sin cannot stop it.
Lies and fear cannot stop it.
Death cannot stop it.

Gods true Love conquers all.

God IS Love.

Love is not just a feeling. Love is a real person. He is God.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

My hero, is coming soon to vanquish that prideful devil and all darkness – with only His breath! Love allowed the devil to do his worst. Love allowed free will, because Love knew, Love trusted, Love has proven for all time: that Love wins. Always. Noone will ever question Love again. For all time.
There is only one hero that is worthy for all the praise, the glory and the honor forever and ever.

He is True Love, and His name is Jesus Christ

He is my hero. He is THE hero. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. He is the greatest gift you will ever get.

31 He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field.  32 Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”  ~ Matthew 13

Hearing Gods Voice part 3: Blocks to Hearing God

(For part 1 click here)
(For part 2 click here)

This is the transcript for the video I made here: HGV Part 3: Blocks

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. ~ Jeremiah 29:13

Hearing God’s voice gets better over time with practice. It’s going to take effort and sacrifice and this is where some people will give up. Sadly some who have given up mistakenly think God doesn’t love them, and even worse some become atheists. Don’t give up and I promise you, and He promises you, you will get through and it will be worth it.

In our imperfection we have blocks that we are not aware of that prevents us from hearing Him. You will have to have humility, faith and determination to face these blocks and change and grow. We all have them. It’s an ongoing process of growth in Him from glory to glory. He never said it would be easy but it would be worth it.
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” ~ 2 Cor 3:18

Some things that may block you from hearing God:

Cessationism:
Some believe that Holy Spirit gifts ended with the apostles. They don’t believe that God still speaks to us today. They believe God said all He has to say in the Bible and that He doesn’t need to speak to us any further. There is no biblical support for this belief and in fact the Bible teaches the opposite:

“so that you do not lack any spiritual gift as you wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. 8 He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ” 1 Cor 1:7,8

Jesus says in John 14:18 “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” The comforter is the Holy Spirit. If he took away the Holy Spirit from us that would be leaving us comfortless and he would never do that to us. The holy spirit is here to look after us until Jesus returns.

Cessationists use this scripture to try prove their belief:
“8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.” 1 Cor 13:8-10
So….it says the gifts will pass away when the perfect comes. So what is the perfect? The perfect is when Jesus returns and makes all things new again and at that point we won’t need the gifts anymore to do his ministry. We are not at that time yet. We still need to do his ministry and we need the help of the gifts and the Holy Spirit to do it. Cessationism doesn’t make sense.

The cessationism belief comes from Pride and the religious spirit. When people had trouble hearing from God themselves they weren’t humble enough to to look in the mirror at what they might be doing wrong and instead, in their pride, they said “well if we can’t hear from God, nobody can” and then they twisted scripture to support their belief. They are there the ones that Jesus talked about when he said they shut up the kingdom of heaven and they don’t go in and they don’t let anyone else go in.

“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.” Matthew 23:13

Also why would God allow people that follow demons to do signs and wonders and not His own people?
“The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,” 2 Thes 2:9
Why do we believe in and fear demonic power more than Gods? It’s because that’s what satan wants! He doesn’t want us to know the power we have in Jesus. He doesn’t want us to have a relationship with God.

Asking the wrong question:
Such as asking a question with a false premise. I’ll give you an example. If you say “why don’t you love me?” how can He answer that? He does love you. If you’re not hearing an answer, ask Him “What is the right question?”.

Unforgiveness.
You must forgive others as God forgave you. When you do you are acknowledging that you are not better than God. If He who has every right to not forgive, forgives out of love, we must forgive too. Now in saying that, it doesn’t mean that what the person did was ok and it doesn’t mean you let the person keep hurting you. Not at all. You have the right to protect yourself. But do not be vengeful. Hand them over to God. Vengeance is His and He will repay them according to their works. He is the God of justice. To make sure you have truly forgiven them, say a prayer for them too.
(Read the parable of the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18:23-35)

Having a bad image of God in your mind/ feeling unworthy.
You might have been taught that God is distant or a tyrant. You might have had a bad father and don’t know what a loving father is like. Whatever the reason, if you have a bad image of God you may have trouble hearing Him. The solution is to read His word and get to know Him.
The devil would like you to think that God doesn’t love you. That is a lie. Believe that He loves you and is with you because that is the truth. If you are a parent you know how much you love your children. Well You are His child and He loves you even more than how much you love your children. He loves you unconditionally. He loved you first.
Psalm 103:13-14 “As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.”
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Rom 8:38,39
I like to imagine myself as a young child running up to Him and He joyfully lifts me up in His arms. That is my image of God. I have been blessed to experience Him like that too. I do bow down to Him in reverence and awe too but when I need Him as a father He wraps me up in His love and I know He views all of you listening the same way.

“The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zeph 3:17

He knocks on the door of your heart, it’s up to you to let Him in. Ask Him to come into your heart and show you His love.

Resenting God.
If you have any hatred anger or resentment towards God of any kind, you need to reject that and ask forgiveness for thinking that way. Can you imagine having a good relationship with someone that unjustly resents you?! We can’t and neither can God.
Everything He does for us and allows to happen to us is out of love. Even if we don’t understand why, it is true and faith is needed. Sometimes faith (trust) is all that is needed for the answer to become clear as to the why.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Rom 8:28
And in saying that I don’t take it lightly at all if you have been through terrible trials or abuse or suffering. I have too. Maybe not the same thing as yours or as bad as yours, but I have been many times in places so dark to the point I wanted to die and attempted suicide. God doesn’t take it lightly either. But you can’t blame Him for it. He is the one who sent His only son to die a tortuous death to save us from all this! His love is real and proven for all time and we must trust Him! When Job questioned God about his suffering, God reminded Job that He created all things and His wisdom is beyond our human understanding. We just have to trust Him. The answers will come sooner or later. (Read Job chapters 38 – 40)

Sin.
Unrepented sins and continuing to willfully sin will hinder our prayers.
“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear” (Isaiah 59:2). David said: “If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened” (Psalm 66:18).
If you have any unconfessed sin you need to confess to God in prayer everything you have done with true repentance and receive His forgiveness and believe you are forgiven. True repentance involves stopping the sin. I know we are not perfect but we must make every effort to stop the sin. Get help from others if you need to, whatever it takes.
“If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.” ~ Matt 5:29,30
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” ~ 1 John 1:9
“The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.” Prov 15:29
“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16

Pride / Selfish Motives.
God isn’t our magic genie! He is not there just to grant our wishes. He is our loving Father and wants a relationship with us. He will only grant us things that are within His loving will for us. Ask Him often what His will is. What He would like us to do, instead of always just telling Him what we want. Humbly ask Him where we are going wrong and to correct us and teach us.
“When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures” James 4:3

“God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” 1 pet 5:5

God wants us to be 100% sold out for Him. He knows our heart and can see if we are selfish.
37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:37–40

Doubt:
“without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” Hebrews 11:6
“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” ~ James 1:6-8
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” – 1 John 5:14,15

Fear:
Fear of what God is asking you to do or might ask you to do. We need to trust in God that whatever He asks us to do, He will also give us the means to do it. Trust in Him and obey. Don’t be like the rich young ruler who refused to give up his money and follow Jesus. Don’t run away like Jonah. If you have run away, don’t be afraid to come back to Him and seek forgiveness. He is graceful. God is faithful and won’t give up on you. He is there waiting for you to obey and come back to Him.

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
~ Isaiah 41:10

Abuse.
If you are abusive to your wife, your husband, your children, or anyone else, God will not hear you. God hates abuse and calls us to love our neighbor – which includes those in our family! Give special honor to those who are weaker than you. We have a duty to help those in need if we are able to, and never to abuse them!
“Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers” 1 Peter 3:7.
Jesus says: ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ – Matt 25:40

Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor Will also cry himself and not be heard. – Proverbs 21:13

Your own rules:
Don’t make rules for God, like: “I will believe when you appear in front of me” or “speak to me audibly”. God has many ways of communicating and He can talk to us however He pleases.
Many people have found that God has spoken to them before and they didn’t realise it was Him because they had rules about how they thought it should happen. For example, if you’ve ever heard a warning in your mind or had a gut feeling about a dangerous situation, that was probably Him. I did.
Long before I became christian, I was at the traffic lights and they turned green for me to go. Something in me told me to stop and paralyzed me. A car then sped in front of me. They were running the red light. It would have killed me. I didn’t know then, but it was God. He was with me my whole life. He revealed truth to me which eventually saved me out of the cult I was raised in. I didn’t know it was Him at the time. But it was. He is calling you too. You just need to listen.

Conclusion:
That’s all the blocks to hearing God that I can think of. If you’re still having trouble, pray and ask God to show you where you’re going wrong.

Wilderness

If you usually hear from God but go through times when you don’t hear from Him, this is often referred to as going through the wilderness. The wilderness is a time where God steps back and allows your faith to be tested through trials and temptations. All of God’s prophets in bible went through it. Jesus literally went to the wilderness for 40 days where He was tempted. Jesus also went through this when He cried out to the Father on the cross, asking “why have you forsaken me“. So believe me you are in good company! Whatever you are suffering, Jesus and His followers have suffered too. Students are not greater than their teacher.
Remember that the teacher is always quiet during the test. Don’t fear these times because He is ALWAYS with you no matter what, even when you can’t sense Him. He still loves you. He’s not punishing you. Stay faithful to Him and He will stay faithful to you. You will come out of it much stronger than you imagined you could be.

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.” 2 Cor 4:7-10

“Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!” Ps 27:14

So…I hope I haven’t left anything out. I probably have! Please comment below if you have any other blocks and share how you overcame them. And comment if you have any questions. Thanks for listening!

Hearing God’s Voice Part 2: Discernment:

(For Part 1 click here)

This is the transcript for the video I made here: HGV Part 2: Discernment

We know that God communicates to us.
Satan and demons also communicate to us and they also use signs and dreams and visions. We need to discern the spirits. We need to discern between truth and lies.

Satan deceived a third of the angels.Satan and his demons are thousands of years old. We can’t underestimate them.

“Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” 2 Cor 11:14.

I’ve seen demons pretending to be angels. I saw a demon once pretending to be God. I’ve had many wonderful experiences with God that were really Him too. I’ve learned the difference now because God has given me discernment.

Most christians will fall into 1 of 2 categories:

  • those who avoid spiritual experience because they fear the devil and
  • those who go all in with no discernment between what is of God and what isn’t.

Satan’s very happy about this because either way he wins. But you can have a close relationship with God without fear of devil and the key is discernment.

There are many false prophets out there and many of them don’t even know they are false prophets. They really believe they are hearing from God. But I tell you this not to scare you away from communicating with God, but to use discernment when you do. It is vital that you have that close connection with God and learn discernment so that you are not deceived. Many people feel unqualified to do this and so they blindly follow preachers who seem to be well educated instead. But that is a big mistake. No matter how knowledgeable the preacher is, they are still imperfect, human and make mistakes. Whatever anyone teaches you, (including me!), don’t ever follow blindly, take it to the Lord and find out for yourself if it is true, like the Bereans did.

“These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you.But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.” – 1 John 2:26-27

How can you know if a word is from God?

1 Sometimes it’s obvious like if you heard a voice that told you to murder someone – you know it isn’t God! Use your logic. Some good questions to ask: Does it glorify Jesus, or yourself? Does it bring you closer to Jesus or further away? Is it loving or hateful?

2 Check it against the bible. If the message contradicts the bible you can know it wasn’t from Him. (Hebrews 4:12) – “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

3 Pray and ask for discernment. Discernment is actually one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given… discerning of spirits…” 1 Cor 12: 7-10. Pray for discernment every time you’re not sure about a message. Ask for confirmation if you’re still not sure.

4 Pray and ask for the spirit of Wisdom and Revelation. “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened” (Ephesians 1:17-18, NKJV)

5 Ask them if Jesus Christ is Lord and came in the flesh. If they don’t bow down to Jesus or acknowledge Jesus as their Lord,or God’s son or acknowledge Jesus as the only way to salvation, they are demons/false prophets. 1 John 4:1-6:

“1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.
4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. 6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.”

6 Learn to recognise God’s voice:

I’ll talk about Holy Spirit first.
– Sometimes you just know that you know:
“The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” (Romans 8:16)“I tell you the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit …” (Romans 9:1) Sometimes you just know something in your spirit without a shadow of a doubt and no confirmations are necessary. I’ll give you a couple examples, one time I was looking for a house to rent. As I looked through the ads, I felt the Holy Spirit on a particular house and I knew that was the house. From the ad it was not much different or special than the others but I just knew God was telling me that’s the house. I didn’t have the money for it either. The money unexpectedly showed up at the last minute, the exact amount that I needed. It turned out that house had a church right over the back fence that would help me get further in my walk with God! That’s why God placed me there.
– Another example of knowing is when we have a dream or vision from God and we know what it means. We don’t need it interpreted. I love it when He does that. I think God does this when it’s something urgent or important that you need to know straight away.
– Conviction. Sometimes Holy Spirit will give you a strong conviction about something or move you or push you to do something. It can give you boldness too that you never felt before that you know isn’t just you.
“… they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia … They tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.” (Acts 16:6-7)
I remember one time I got all ready to go out in my car for a trip and as I was walking out the door, I had a very strong feeling not to go yet. So I went back inside and waited for about 5 minutes until I had a feeling of peace about going. I left and drove past a car crash down the road that had just happened. That could have been me in that crash if I didn’t follow my gut. I’m sure most of you have had a similar experience or heard of a similar experience. That was God protecting us.
– Right words at right time. It can give you the right words to say at the right time. If you’ve ever been preaching and the right words just came out of your mouth and your like…did I just say that? Where did that come from?! That was Holy Spirit.
“For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” Luke 12:12
– Holy spirit is life. You may feel more alive when you receive it. “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63
– You may feel a physical sensation. You may feel warmth or energy or “truth bumps”. The closest thing I can relate this feeling to is like when you see your baby’s face for the first time and you feel so much love and awe like your heart’s going to burst. Babies are gifts from heaven, so it’s not surprising! I usually feel Holy Spirit in my heart. Sometimes I feel it being poured over me like warm oil or honey being poured over me, anointing me. Sometimes I feel it from my shoulder or back as if God touched me. That’s usually when I remember that He’s there and He taps me on the shoulder as if to say yes I’m still here. Holy Spirit strengthens me.
Sometimes it feels like fire but not burning, just warm.
Some say it feels like water or a waterfall.
It can surround us or fill us.
Some say they feel Holy Spirit coming from their belly. I haven’t had that yet but it is biblical. Jesus said:
“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive…” John 7:38,39
– Different people have different experiences with it and describe it differently.
– Holy spirit feels like truth.
Holy Spirit is also called the spirit of truth. This will make sense to you when you feel it. If you can remember a time when you uncovered a truth that you didn’t know before and it’s like taking a blindfold off and seeing for the first time. And you have a feeling of awe and appreciation and you just know inside, in your spirit that it is true. I had this happen to me many times when I first read the bible with Holy Spirit guiding me. It feels like a joyful energy. Its feels amazing! I love that feeling, it fed my spirit and made me want more!
– I feel Holy Spirit when I receive a vision or dream or word from God and that’s how I know it is Him.
– Reminds us of scripture:
Holy Spirit often makes me remember scriptures that are relevant at the time.
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:26
You can recognise Holy Spirit by the fruits:
“the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” Gal 5:22,23
– When in Gods presence
You will feel love, peace, joy and awe. God is always loving and He can be firm sometimes and convict you of things, but it is always with love/compassion/mercy and you can feel His love when He speaks to you. God will speak truth always. I often feel like crying in His presence and they are healing tears.“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love” 1 John 4:7-8

The times I personally feel Gods presence and His Holy Spirit the most is when I’m worshipping, when I’m interceding, or when I’ve learned more truth and He is confirming it to me. If you haven’t felt it before go into deep worship with Him and you probably will feel it then.

Picture

When satan/demons speak to you
It can sound harsh/condemning or mocking/belittling/ making you feel guilty. They may make you feel frightened, or ashamed or even flattered as they appeal to your pride. It can be confusing.
It can feel pleasurable.
It can sometimes have some truth in it, but it will be truth that is twisted to their agenda.
They lie. Satan is the father of lies.
It will be missing love. There is absolutely no love in them. They could say they love you but they lie and you won’t feel the love.
You will feel uneasy. You will feel something isn’t quite right. You won’t feel peace about it.
It can sound like one of your own thoughts to make you think it is your idea. That’s why you must question the random thoughts that pop up in your mind and don’t always assume it is you.

Picture

Practice:
Discernment is something that will get better over time as you get familiar with Gods voice and the enemies voice. You can practice by asking God a question, then take note of the thoughts and impressions that come up in your mind. The way He speaks to us in our mind is like a thought or impression popping up or inspiration or intuition. Try to notice the intention or feeling behind it.
Gods voice is usually the first voice we hear, sometimes when you haven’t even finished asking the question. He already knows what you are going to ask.
“…there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.” Ps 139
God can read our minds but satan/demons can’t. (Unless we are directing the thought to them).
“then hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and act, and give to everyone according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You alone know the hearts of all the sons of men),” 1 Kings 8:39
So if you want to say something privately to the Lord, say it in your mind. Alternatively, ask God to stop them from hearing you.

How can a demon be speaking to someone who is saved?
Satan spoke to Jesus and tried to tempt Him 3 times. We also see an example here where the apostles James and John were mislead by a demon and probably thought it was their own idea:
“they entered a village of the Samaritans, to prepare for Him. 53 But they did not receive Him[Jesus], because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. 54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?”
55 But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.”
Luke 9:52-56
So James and John were being influenced by an evil spirit and didn’t realise it. They bought the lie because of their own desire. They were likely listening to a spirit of pride or revenge instead of Gods love. You have to rebuke those thoughts from Satan and listen more to God’s thoughts and over time God will become clearer and satan will be drowned out.

How to know if it’s just your own thoughts:
Your own thoughts will be those ones that you are consciously thinking for example when you were asking God a question earlier. Or they may be things popping up from your memory, for example your personal beliefs or things your parents taught you etc. Gods voice is often something you never thought of or would never think of on your own or something you couldn’t know.
Sometimes when you think of doing something wicked, it is a demon tempting you. Rebuke it and don’t entertain the idea.
Keep rebuking the devils lies and their influence and power over you will diminish. Keep practicing and you will be able to tell the difference.
“But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” – Hebrews 5:14

“And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers” John 10:4-5

Proverbs 4:20-23 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Hearing God’s Voice Part 1: Growing your relationship with God.

This is the transcript for the video I made here: HGV Part 1 Grow

The bible teaches that about having a personal relationship with God, where we can talk to Him and hear His voice, and receive His guidance.

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” ~ John 10:27

I hear from God often. I’ve been told that I must be very “special” or “blessed”. That is not true at all! I am certainly not anything special! I’m an average person just like anyone else. I am a sinner just like anyone else.

Gods prophets in the bible were sinners and so were Jesus 12 apostles. It says in Acts 4:13: “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marvelled. And they realised that they had been with Jesus.”
You don’t have to be special or have special training to have a close relationship with God. In fact if you think you are more special or more qualified than others, your pride will get in the way of being close to God.
“God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;”. ~ 1 Cor 1:27
You CAN have a personal relationship with God, He is open to everyone who is willing to come to Him. He is speaking to us all the time and wants to have a relationship with each of us. Like any relationship, it goes both ways so you need to do your part.

Jesus says: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” Rev 3:20

I will share with you in this 3 part series everything I know about:

1 How to grow your relationship with God
2 How to discern if it’s God communicating with you, or demons, or if you are just imagining things.
3 Blocks that prevent us from hearing God

How to Grow your Relationship with God:

If you “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

Faith:
The first step is having faith in Jesus. Jesus is the bridge between us and God.
Through Jesus we are worthy to come before God’s throne and speak with Him.

If you haven’t already done so you need to give your life to God and invite Jesus into your life with a heartfelt prayer similar to this:

I confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord and the Son of God who came in the flesh. I believe that Jesus died for our sins, rose from the dead and is now alive.
Father in heaven, please forgive me for my sins as I also forgive those who have sinned against me. Thank you for forgiving me.
I give my life to you and accept your gift of life.
I invite your Holy Spirit into my life and my heart. I invite you Jesus to be the Lord of my life.
Please guide me, protect me and strengthen me. Thank you.
I humbly pray through the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit is the breath of God.
Our body is a temple for the Holy Spirit!
1 Cor 6:19 “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?”

Holy Spirit calls you and moves your heart and motivates you and guides you. It is a normal part of being a christian to be led by Holy Spirit.
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” (Romans 8:14)

“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. “He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. “All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.” John 16:13-15

John 14:26:
…the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things…
Holy Spirit can speak to us with an audible voice or a spiritual voice or impression that we hear in our spirit with our spiritual ears.
God is speaking to us all the time but we haven’t noticed. We have become so blinded to even notice what thoughts are going through our head that we miss it. It is a skill.

God spoke to Elijah with a still, small voice, like a whisper.

“Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.” (1 Kings 19:11,12).

In Isaiah 30:21 it says:
“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left.”
Believe that God speaks to you as it says so in His word, and He will reward your faith.

Prayer:
Always come to God with a humble heart like a child. The Lord’s prayer is a great model to start off with. Always thank Him for the good things. Pour your heart out to Him. He is your loving Father and loves to hear from you!
Pray regularly everyday, if possible, when you wake up and when you go to sleep.
“Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, And He shall hear my voice.” Ps 55:17
Take time to listen to Him. Ask Him questions and be open for the answer.

You also need to pray along with others who have a strong connection to Him, and have them pray over you.
Matthew 18:19-21:
19 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Read His Word:
The bible is His written word to us! So meditate on it regularly. Pray for understanding each time you read it. Read the scriptures in context. You’ll find there’s many layers of meaning to each scripture. There are shadows of things to come and things past. You’ll see patterns repeating in the way God does things. Look into the original Hebrew and Greek words and study them for deeper understanding. You will learn more in one hour reading the bible alone with God than you do listening to 100 hours of sermons. There’s so much to uncover.
“For the word of God is living and powerful” Hebrews 4:12.
The word is spiritual food. Feast on it regularly.

Obedience:
As you learn truth and your love for God grows, you will be convicted of things you are doing wrong and as you are obedient to Him in these things, you will draw closer to Him.
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15
Jesus promises:
“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.” John 14:21
“Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.” Matthew 5:8

Sanctify your mind:
You can hear His voice more clearly by sanctifying your mind. Your mind is like your home. Think about what you would change before inviting Jesus into your home.
“…whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” Phil 4:8
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” – Romans 12:2
As you cleanse your mind you make your mind more welcoming for God to come into your mind it speak to you.

Worship:
The way I experience Holy Spirit the most fully and deepen my relationship with Him is through worship. There are many ways of worship such as Praising Him, singing to Him, or any way you can think of to express your love and awe of Him. If you have never experienced Holy Spirit, worship Him with your whole heart, and His Spirit will come to you.
You need to worship and pray by yourself often because you need to build a strong personal one on one relationship with Him.

Get to know God through His Creation
You can get to know an artist through their creations, and the same goes with God.

Job 12:7-10
7 “But now ask the beasts, and they will teach you;
And the birds of the air, and they will tell you;
8 Or speak to the earth, and it will teach you;
And the fish of the sea will explain to you.
9 Who among all these does not know
That the hand of the Lord has done this,
10 In whose hand is the life of every living thing,
And the breath of all mankind?

Ps 19:1
The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.

Rom 1:20
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

God Speaks to us through Dreams and Visions:
“He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds.” (Job 33:15)

There are numerous stories in the bible of God giving people dreams and visions and He still does today:
“And it shall come to pass afterward
That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your old men shall dream dreams,
Your young men shall see visions.
And also on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.” Joel 2:28,29

If you would like to receive a dream or vision from God, ask Him. You will know if a dream is from Him because it will stand out as more real and significant than your regular dreams. A vision can be either an “open vision” which is when you see something spiritual with your eyes open. Or it could be a picture or impression in your mind’s eye that you know isn’t you. Gods visions in my experience are very clear and vivid. Be prepared with a notebook and pen by your bed to jot down anything that He shows you. Sometimes He may show you things and then take it away or make you forget until sometime in the future when He wants you to remember it.
I actually have a “spiritual journal” that I keep. It’s like a diary, where I write down every vision, dream or experience I receive from God. I have actually filled 2 notebooks and I’m onto my 3rd one at the moment! These are important and worth holding onto for the future when you want to look back and confirm something or just remember and be strengthened by it.

God Speaks to us through Signs
There are limitless ways that God gives us signs; such as a word you hear from another person, a post on the internet, or a scripture that answers your question. It may be something to get your attention or confirm to you a previous message.
For example, in the bible, Gideon asked God to give him a sign. He said “I will place a wool fleece on the threshing floor,” he said, “and the next morning, if there is dew only on the fleece and all the ground around it is dry, then I will know that you will save Israel by my hand” (Judges 6:37) God came through for Gideon.
Here’s an example from my own life of a powerful confirmation God gave me. Once when praying for deliverance for my son, I asked God to give me a sign that it worked and the sign that I asked for was that my son would smile. My son didn’t hear me say this. Afterwards my son was smiling and he said to me “mum I just really feel like smiling today and I don’t know why!”. Because of confirmations like this, I know that God answers my prayers. This is just one of dozens of examples from my own life and there are plenty more from others. I know that God is real and I’m not just imagining things.

One word of caution with signs is to not let it replace your relationship with God. Relationship comes first. Try to hear His voice first and then let Him confirm it to you with signs. When you see the sign you may feel Holy Spirit to further confirm to you that it is a sign.

Sometimes when I need an answer about something urgently or a confirmation, I get my bible and I humbly pray with faith, asking my question, and I randomly open my bible. Usually, the bible opens on the exact scripture that answers my question.

There’s so many ways God speaks to us and for many there are ways that are just for them. For example in my case, I once had a vision where I saw Gods right hand next to me, to my left. I asked Him why did you show me your right hand? The next day He gave me a sign which was a scripture that came up on my Facebook feed:

“Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’” Isaiah 41:10

So if He’s upholding me with His right hand, He is to my left. I realised then that whenever I saw Jesus and visions from Him it is to my left and whenever I saw visions from demons they were to my right or elsewhere. That’s not necessarily true for everyone, but that is one way He confirms it to me personally. As you get to know God more, you may develop a personal type of communication between you that’s just for you and signs that are just for you.
And remember: when God shows you anything, you need to ask Him for permission before you share it with others. He sometimes shows us things that are just for us or that are for a future time. If you’re not sure, you can share it with a trusted mature christian for their discernment.

Are Jehovah’s Witness the one true religion?

Are Jehovah’s Witness the one true religion?

This is the written version of a video I made here: Jehovahs witness challenge

(I am going to use the KJV or NKJV for my bible references because I trust it. If you are a JW this should be fine for you as JW’s used to use KJV before the NWT, which was also translated from KJV)Acts 7:48-50 (NKJV):

48 “However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says:

49 ‘Heaven is My throne,
And earth is My footstool.
What house will you build for Me? says the Lord,
Or what is the place of My rest?
50 Has My hand not made all these things?’

When I was stumbled (I was stumbled by many things), I doubted whether JW’s was the truth. So I decided to read the bible for myself (without it being interpreted by imperfect people) to find out what was true. I decided to “make the truth my own”. Before I read it, each time, I prayed for understanding. The bible came alive and I understood like I never have before. It was like a veil was lifted off. Little did I know at the time, this is exactly how we are meant to read it.
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” – 1 Cor 2:14 “For the word of God is alive and active…” Hebrews 4:12 “… the Lord give thee understanding in all things..” – 2 Tim 2:7
My new understanding came directly from scripture with help from the Holy Spirit. I have not been brainwashed by “apostates”. While I do now associate with christian people that share the same beliefs as me, they have not influenced by beliefs whatsoever.

My reasons for choosing the Lord Jesus over the watchtower organisation:

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” – John 14:6
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” – 1 Tim 2:5

Obviously Jesus is the only mediator, the only Way, Truth and Life.

You might be thinking that the governing body are the faithful and discreet slave appointed to give out food at the proper time…even if they are, that doesn’t make them the mediator between God and man. Before Jesus, God had appointed mediators, priests and prophets to relay His messages. After Jesus died the curtain that was separating the Holy of Holies was ripped. The significance was that we are now each able to come directly to God, through Jesus. Jesus is the key. He Has also written His law on our hearts (God given conscience) and gave us His word, the bible, which is FINISHED, so we know what to do. And to clear up any confusion, He sent the Holy Spirit to help us understand the bible. Teachers can help guide us to the bible and to God, but are not to be mediators, coming between us and God, nor are they to make laws or add to the word of God.

“26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. 27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” – 1 John 2:26-27
“5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; 6Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.” – 2 Cor 3:5,6
If you get nothing else out of what I’m saying here, please trust God as the highest authority and pray to Him and read His word with an open heart (to Him), asking for understanding. You cannot go wrong with this. You are trusting imperfect men (governing body) to interpret the bible for you, you are trusting them with your LIFE, please trust God and check all of what I’m presenting here and consider prayerfully what is true. Ask for the Holy Spirit to guide you.

THE BEREANS…
“… they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” – Acts 17:11

Here are the 10 criteria the JW’s put forward to identify the one true religion and as I go through each one I’ll comment on them. (please bear in mind that Jws have gone about this the wrong way anyway as I will explain later):

  1. They have love among themselves and by their fruits. “35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” – John 13:35 “By their fruits you shall know them” – Mat 7:16

This is a true point, its scriptural. however in reality, all religions have those that are loving, and those that are not loving within them. Obviously this scripture is about individuals, not a religion. There are individuals in JWs who are loving and those who are not. You know this is true. I have personally met people from other churches that are very loving, they give food out to the hungry, help each other out and go beyond their congregation to help the community as per Jesus command: “35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” – Matthew 25:35-40 Jehovah’s witness as a religion don’t follow this command except to help their own in emergency situations. Jesus commanded to do this for strangers though, not just our own. I don’t know of any JWs that do this. Do you? Getting back to the subject though…
2. They preach the good news worldwide. Yes, the bible says this will happen.

  • JWs are thorough, but they are not the only ones doing this. Missionaries from other churches have also preached the word to the remote places. Places where even JWs haven’t been. All of the world has access to a bible and almost all have the internet nowadays where the word is also being preached by many different churches and individuals.
  • It is also debatable whether the word JWs are teaching is in fact the true good news. But I’ll get into that later…
  • This scripture isn’t about which church is sharing His word, but the fact it is being shared. His word being the Bible.

3. They don’t go to war or get involved in politics. That’s good. There are others who do this also.
4. True religion must have the correct doctrine based on bible. Sure. All religions make this claim. It is up to us find out if what they are teaching us is true. JWs call themselves “the truth”. It is blasphemy though as Jesus is truth. Humans can’t be truth or be the authority on truth no matter how hard they try to get it right, they are imperfect. Jesus is the truth and the authority on truth as He is the only perfect human that qualifies. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
5. They glorify Jehovah’s name.

  • True, JWs may be the most passionate about Jehovah’s name although they are not the only ones who use it. I couldn’t believe it when I was in a baptist church once and saw posters all around praising Jehovah’s name!
  • The true pronunciation of His name is lost. All we have is YHWH. Many consider it too holy to say, especially as we don’t know how to pronounce it. I am happy to just call Him Father as Jesus instructed us in the Lord’s prayer. Or I call Him by however He leads me. Sometimes I call Him Abba or Lord or Elohim or Yahweh or Adonai or El Shaddai etc. There are different ways people came up with to pronounce the tetragrammaton such as Yahweh, Yahushuah, Yahshuah or Jehovah etc. I call Him Jehovah too sometimes but don’t get hung up on it. He knows I’m talking to Him. Can you imagine requiring your child to say your name exactly right? No, you would just be happy with them calling you daddy or mummy.
  • The name that we are to promote is Jesus (or Yeshua). “9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;” – Phil 2:9, 10 “21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,” – Eph 1:21, 22 “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.” – Mat 10:32 This does not mean we are putting Jesus above God. Rather We are glorifying God through spreading the message that Jesus is the Lord. “11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” – Phil 2:11

6. Unity.
Jw believe that because they all believe the same that they are fulfilling 1 Cor 1:10: “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”
But if you read this verse in context, you will find out what it really means. Let’s continue to verse 11 onwards: “11 For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you. 12 Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15 lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name. 16 Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I do not know whether I baptized any other. 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.”
As you can see here Paul was talking about people following different men when they should all be united following Jesus. Many of the christian religions today are doing this. They are following various men instead of Jesus alone. For example the Catholics follow the pope. Mormons follow Joseph Smith. Jehovah’s witness followed Charles Russell and Joseph Rutherford and now follow the governing body. They even baptise people to their organization instead of God alone. Paul was specifically warning against such things. The very scripture that Jws twist to support their beliefs actually exposes them!

Ok so now I have gone through the reasons why JW’s believe they are the true religion and why I doubt that. Now as I mentioned I think that is the wrong question. I think the right question is: how do you know if an individual is a true follower of God? I don’t believe His church is in a certain organisation or a certain religion. I believe His church is made up of individuals who follow Him.
Here is my reasoning for that:

  • “16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in himshould not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16. It is individuals believing in Jesus and following Him that makes them christian. Being in a certain church (or organisation) doesn’t make you christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.
  • There is no mention of an earthly organisation, hierarchy or mediator from Jesus time onwards. There used to be one before Jesus time, when they needed to have a human mediator to relay Gods messages to mankind. Since Jesus died and the curtain to the holy of holies got ripped in half, we (mankind) are now free to go to God directly, through Jesus. Yes they had congregations where they gathered together in each others homes with other believers, and yes that’s important in order to build each other up. But it is not a means of salvation. “24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” – Heb 10:24,25. Why are they gathering? To encourage each other. Not for salvation.
  • “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” – Mat 18:20. Only 2 or 3 are needed. This shows it can be a friend or 2 who share your belief in Jesus. Very important if there are no true churches available where you live.
  • After the time of the Apostles, wolves came in and took over the early congregations (the catholics) There was no true church or organisation from then onwards, only individuals “29For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. 31Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.” – Acts 20:29-31
  • How can JW’s explain there being no true church between that time and when the JW’s started? About 1800 years where no-one could be saved? Of course there were people who were saved because they were individuals who followed Jesus, who didn’t belong to any church.
  • The wheat and the tares grow together. (in Mat 13) This is about true followers and false growing together. They look almost identical. So as it was prophesied false and true christians are mixed up together. It is good for our growth to not know who are wheat or tares so we do not go the easy way and follow man, but continually keep checking what is true by following God.
  • If there was an organisation in the early church, then Paul would have had to go through the proper channels to get his position. But no, Paul was appointed directly by Jesus and went straight out to preach before ever consulting the other apostles. So can we as individuals go directly to Jesus and follow His instruction without going through a church or organisation.
  • Jesus, Himself, didn’t go through the proper channels either, which at the time was the Jewish temple. This is because the pharisees were so busy following the law and their interpretation of it, they failed to see what God was doing right in front of them! If they followed God directly with their heart and spirit, they would have seen Jesus as who He really was, the Son of God. But no, they said Jesus was a blasphemer.
  • Through my own experience, I have gone directly to God, through Jesus alone and have been given instruction and understanding via the Holy Spirit. I don’t, nor would ever consider myself a mediator for people because of this, because I am an imperfect human being. I will not take power over others, but do as I am told and direct people to go straight to God and follow Him for themselves.
  • Now I wonder, how on earth does the governing body think they have the right to put themselves in this position of power? If they teach one thing wrong to mislead one person, that person’s life is in their hands. How can they sleep at night? “6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” – Matt 18:6 “14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” – Mat 19:14 The governing body stop you from going directly to Jesus, as they stand as a mediator in between.
  • It is a form of idolatry to look to a manmade organisation for salvation, rather than God Himself. “12Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name [Jesus] under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” – Acts 4:12

“20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” – John 4:20-24

I hope you can understand this is the basis of where I’m coming from and I hope you will question what you are being taught. The governing body are self-appointed. They attempt to prove who they are by their own interpretation of scripture. Do you see the circular logic here?

Picture

Please open your mind to the possibility of their interpretation being wrong. Through studying the bible for myself I have found many of the governing bodies doctrines to conflict with the bible. The worst one being their teaching that they are the one true mediator! This doctrine stops JWs from questioning any of the other doctrines. It is included in our very baptism. Jesus instruction was simple and perfect: Baptise people in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The JW baptism questions go like this:

  1. On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will?
  2. Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in association with God’s spirit-directed organization?

I see the Father there and the Son, but they have replaced “holy-spirit” with “God’s spirit-directed organisation”. This is very serious as we are committing to a man-made organisation to reveal Gods will to us rather than the holy spirit directly as Jesus instructed.

Jesus made a promise to us:
“He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him..” – John 14:21

Please pray and ask Him to show you who He is and teach you with His spirit. If you are sincere, He will answer you, He will teach you. God bless!
